I came across Mama rouz a while back and glad to be dined in with family in a very homely atmosphere with courteous staffs. They have a versatile menu featuring Arabic, Indian , Chinese and… More
The Grub House is one of the restaurant in International city with a decent ambience and a good place to dine in with family. We went here for a blogger’s session put together by NNK. We were greeted by Ms Risha who is also the owner of the restaurant and she did explain to us in detail about the place. They specialize in north Indian and Indo chinese cuisine too.
We called for lemon mint to start with. It was pretty refreshing.
Moving on to the starters, we were served some of the signature platters as suggested by Ms Risha.
Salim ki pasand- It was a mixed platter with several non-veg kebabs. Being a hardcore carnivore , I quite loved it.
Anarkali ki pasand- The names were quite interesting! This is a mixed kebab platter with an assortment of paneer, baby potatoes etc.
Next was my favorite Sagar-E-Sultan which was a seafood platter of prawns, fish etc. The prawns were cooked to perfection with the right spices.
Among chinese starter , we got to try schezwan chicken which was pretty good too.
Tandoori chicken- Another favorite starter with soft pieces of chicken perfectly marinated and grilled. The spice level was also right.
Moving on to the main course, we tried Matka chicken, Tangdi kebab lababdar, sunheri chicken, Chicken masala bombay biryani.
We quite enjoyed the biryani which was done pretty well.
Schezwan noodles was a bit let down as it was lacking some flavors.
The most exciting part,Desserts!! We tried both Gulab jamun and Ras malai. They were made in-house and was really delicious and we did enjoy.
Verdict: A decent family restaurant with courteous staffs, delicious food and great offers for university students as well.
India palace has been celebrating Mughal heritage for nearly two decades through its traditional cuisine , intricate decor and award winning hospitality.India Palace as a brand echoes the tradition and cultural heritage of India adorned by the royalty, richness and diversity of flavors found across the country. Biryani-e-Khaas is an extension of their commitment of introducing the flavors of India, in all its glory to the residents of UAE.
They launched an event called Biryani-Khaas, the gala of authentic heritage biryanis on the 6th of March 2017 where a special menu was specifically designed to highlight the flavors and variety of biryanis found across the different regions; each packed with its own spices and flavor profile. The menu boasts four outstanding biryanis and select desserts that complement one another and pleases the palate.
The menu includes:
1) Noor Mahal Biryani:It was indeed a treat for the eyes; one of my favorite among all with stuffed chicken koftas tossed in aromatic sauce. The flavors were so rich .
2) Murgh Coorgi Biryani: Each biryani was quite different from each other. This was quite unique well prepared with juicy chicken & freshly grinded whole spices.
3) Bohri Chaamp Biryani: This splendid dish is prepared with spicy Bohri Masala blended with mutton chops & marinated for a whole day. The meat was tender soft and was delightful to our tummies.
4) Subz Qabuli Pulao: This renowned Afghani delicacy is a mix of rice, warm spices & Chana dal, decorated with caramelized fruits & vegetables. A good option for the vegetarians out there.
We ended our dinner with a traditional Indian falooda with kulfi icecream, vermicelli, dried fruits and nuts.
The selection of the biryanis included in the special menu for Biryani-e-Khaas took months of research in finalizing the four that we had that day. Each dish speaks of the region it represents, the diversity in the spices used and the type of rice and meat used.
Verdict: All the four varieties specially the Noor Mahal and the Bohri chaamp biryani had the richness of flavors and a royal touch of those particular regions.
Another new restaurant in Dubai which offers amazing view with some mouthwatering International delicacies. We dined here last day at the Tap house which is located in Club Vista Mare which has a spacious indoor dining area and an outdoor seating facility where we can still enjoy the current Dubai weather. They have a large screen for watching your favorite games and munch on some delicious Tap house specialties. The interiors are done quite interestingly with exposed bricks and rough wooden furniture.
We started off with two non-alcoholic drinks; Pineapple mojito and Strawberry margherita..Both were super cooling and in fact a good start to our dinner.
From the kids menu, we got to order the penne arabiatta which was made of a rich tomato based sauce and my son instantly became a fan of it.
Moving on to the starters, we chose to have Tap house Caesar’s salad with grilled chicken . The dressing was pretty good and the fresh lettuce and grilled chicken very much complimented it.
Wasabi prawns was the next to arrive. It would have been better if it was a bit more crispier.
Among main course, as suggested we decided to have the Tap house burger with mushroom and swiss. The whole presentation is quite tempting with a stack of onion rings on top. The beef patty was well done and we did enjoy a lot. It was quite filling too. Another dish we thought of trying is the orange- glazed Back rib which is slow cooked for 9 hours and served along with baby potatoes. The meat was tender soft and the flavors were infused in it . I will go back to have more of this dish.
For the desserts, we decided to have the Cheeton mess which is raspberry cheesecake covered in a meringue dome. Though it looked a lot from the first sight,we finished it in a jiff. We wanted to try the Belgian waffles, but it was not available, so we went on to try the Banoffee jar which was made of banana and toffee. It was freshly made in-house and that made all the difference.
Verdict : Yet another spot added to the Dubai dining scenes for a casual meet up and watch your favorite games along with some delicious food and refreshing drinks.
If you are looking for a pocket friendly, healthy and authentic punjabi cuisine in JLT area, Egg dhaba is the best option I can suggest you. Not all the dishes they serve are egg based, they do have other vegetarian and non veg dishes as well.
We decided to dine in on a saturday for lunch. They have a spacious indoor dining area as well as outdoor area facing the lake.
The staffs and the manager were quite friendly and suggested us the specialties that they have.
Called for a mango lassi and nimbu pani to start with. The lassi was creamy and smooth and loved the flavor of mango in it. Nimbu pani was quite refreshing.
Maska bun omelette was the one we chose among starters. It was a different omelette than we see normally with buns stuffed inside the omelette. The omelette was fluffy and soft and it was pretty good.
Next was the dish of the day which was Amritsari Kulcha with channa. The kulcha was stuffed with paneer, chilli , potato and it was a good combination with channa curry.
We went on to try the chicken tikka since we thought of trying something in non-veg. It was cooked well and the marination was done properly.
We also got to try the masala omelette curry which is prepared using strips of omelette in a spicy thick gravy. Another specialty dish of Egg Dhaba and it did not disappoint us either.
To end our lunch, A ginger-karak tea is a must try here and is served with namak pare. The karak tea was the best I had in for a while and the namak pare along with it is just pure happiness.
Verdict: There are several reasons for us to go back here again when in JLT, one good reason is the Karak tea, masala omelette curry and various other dishes in the menu which we did not try.
In my last post, I have shared a recipe of breakfast bowl using quinoa. Now I’m sharing with you another recipe Avocado-quinoa salad which is very easy to make.
We can always keep cooked quinoa and refrigerate for 2 to 3 days and use it for different recipes.
- 1 cup sliced red onion
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro (or any herb of choice)
- 1 cup chopped cucumber
- 1 cup chopped tomatoes
- 1 cup cooked quinoa-(used here is Indiagate brand)
- 1 large avocado, diced
- A drizzle of olive oil (I used about a tablespoon)
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Salt + pepper to taste
Mix all the ingredients and add lemon juice, olive oil and enough amount of salt and pepper and set aside. Serve after 30 minutes.
Why quinoa is a good substitute for rice and other cereals? Its because it is gluten-free, high in protein and one of the few plant foods that contain all nine essential amino acids.
It is also high in fiber, magnesium, B-vitamins, iron, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, vitamin E and various beneficial antioxidants.
The cooking process is also quite easy as it requires the cooking of quinoa in boiling water for 12 to 15 minutes.
Here I’m sharing an easy recipe which is good for breakfast which will keep you energized throughout the day.
• 1 cup cooked quinoa ( used here is Indiagate brand)
• (1/2 cup) natural yoghurt
• 1 apple, coarsely grated
• (1/2 cup) milk (used here is cow’s milk but almond milk or soy milk can also be used)
• 1 tablespoon sunflower seed kernels
• 2 teaspoons chia seeds
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/2 cup fresh mixed berries (here I have used blackberries and blue berries).
Combine the quinoa , yoghurt, apple, milk, sunflower seed kernels, chia seeds, berries and cinnamon in a bowl. Set aside for 5 minutes to soften. Serve topped with berries and slices of apple.
So south as the name implies is a restaurant serving South Indian cuisine. They serve all day breakfast with some specialties from the state of Andhra Pradesh. One fine Friday, we decided to have our breakfast from there. Its located in JLT cluster C which is easily accessible with an awesome Lakeview. We started off with two filter coffees and ginger tea. Quite refreshing I would say.
Moving on we started ordering the dosas, First was the gunpowder dosa which has a spicy powder filling. It was crispy but spiciness was bit too much for me.
Next we went on to order Paneer dosa and Mushroom dosa. I loved both of them and the filling was sufficient too.
Another dosa which our friend suggested was chilli mozzarella dosa which had a generous amount of cheese and chilli and it was quite yum when served hot.
For desserts, they have a different variety of dosas with Nutella, hersheys, banana , nuts etc. We tried the Nutella one and it was really crispy, an Indian version of crepe. A must try here.
For takeaways, there is a package exclusively for dosas to keep it hot and crisp and the same one can be unfolded and used for having the dosa.
Though they took a lot of time to serve our food as the crowd was unexpected, It was served hot and taste was not bad at all.
When it comes to sandwiches, I think about all health aspects of it. Whether the bread is gluten free, whole wheat bread, whether the ingredients are organic and fresh. Here at the Pressman’s pressed sandwiches, all these are taken into account. It is a kind of fast food joint where we will not feel real guilty of what we have and enjoy all the goodness of fresh ingredients. Last day along with few other foodies, I headed to the Pressman’s in Trade Centre Area.
The staffs here are very friendly & courteous and they also helped us what to choose. We started off with smoothies. We called for Mango, Banana and strawberry favors. I personally liked the mango and banana ones as it was sweet and yum.
Next we went on to order their salads. One of my favorite was Brooklyn salad with bacons and cheese.
The dressing was good too. Other salads we ordered were Arabian and Mediterranean. They make the salad daily in house and supplied to each outlet.
Moving on to the pressed sandwiches, We tried the signature triple cheese which was the yummiest of all with goodness of cheese. It was crispy too. Next on the line was Spicy chipotle chicken. The flavors were on spot with right amount of spiciness.
Chicken, Avocado and bacon sandwich was the next to arrive. It was another great sandwich which tasted like guacamole and chicken filling. They even provide Indian flavors like Bombay special with a spicy potato filling. We also got to try the special soup of the day which was spicy and tangy tomato soup. A smooth and flavorful one light for our tummies.
To conclude our dinner , I ordered a cappuccino with an awesome latte art.
Verdict: Looking for a quick bite with some innovative thinking interms of the filling used and some healthy wholesome meal, head to Pressman Sandwiches.
When chocoholics like me, one hungry girl and shabospere decided to have a meetup and dinner, There seems no other place perfect than ‘The choco Monarch’ at Al Ghurair Centre. It is a dream haven for all the chocolate lovers. Attractive décor and spacious interiors is definitely inviting.
We started off with crepe fettuccini which was drizzled with generous amount of chocolate and served with London dairy ice-cream, a flawless start to our dinner. Next was a Monarch brownies which was beautifully presented and served along with London dairy ice cream. The chocolate is imported from Belgium which adds to the quality of each dish served. We also ordered Monarch fever which is chocolate dips with different fruits.
A small candle was lit on the bottom of vessel in order to keep the chocolate from hardening. Next one to arrive was hot chocolate with marshmallows. The presentation was top notch and it tasted awesome too with the right smoothness. We also got strawberry and chocolate milk shakes. I loved the strawberry one more as it was giving a versatile flavor.
Monarch waffles topped with ice cream, banana and strawberry was another star of the day. It was hot and crisp and the chocolate drizzled was a cherry on top.
Some interesting ice teas branded as Mangajo which came in Acai berry and Goji berry flavors were also some of the specialties here. It was quite refreshing with unique flavor.
To conclude our dinner, we had the choco lava which is made fresh on order. It was gooey with the soft chocolatey texture.
Verdict: A perfect destination for chocolate and dessert lovers .
I was truly overwhelmed when I got the opportunity to dine in at the cozy and beautiful restaurant ‘The Californian’ at Dusit Thani , Dubai . They have an awesome view overlooking Burj Khalifa from the 24th floor with a spacious dining area.
On Fridays the theme for the buffet is ‘Around the world’ with some drool worthy dishes from different parts of the world. We called for some fresh juices to start with. Ordered pineapple, orange and watermelon and all were absolutely fresh.
We started off with the salad section and the variety they have is mind blowing. I tried the minced chicken salad which is a simple yet delicious salad for people who love to add an extra element. Another interesting salad was fried fish and onion salad!!
Yes they had that too. The flavors were on point and it is one of a kind salad for seafood lovers. Other interesting ones were crab sticks, octopus cubes etc.
A special mention about the live grill table where we could choose different fresh steak, chicken, sausage and seafood like squids, prawns etc to grill and I must say it was absolutely divine. The flavors were subtle and suiting our taste.
Among the main course, the options we had were quite plenty indeed. I tried the prawns Biryani which was done in Indian style. A must try here at The Californian. Next I went on to try the grilled fish in a tangy sauce. It was very tender and soft and the aroma of it made me go for it again. Barbeque chicken drumstick was another one worth the try. The pieces were properly cooked and tossed in barbeque sauce. I also tried the penne arrabiata which is penne pasta prepared in tangy tomato and bell pepper based sauce. A good one.
Other dishes in the row were tossed veggies, wagyu beef, potato jack , lamb curry etc.
Next was the most exciting part of any meal, the desserts. They did not let us down here either. Most favorites among them were crème brule, cheesecake, chocolate tart, tiramisu and chocolate pastry. A true heaven for the dessert lovers. Freshly cut fruits were also among them.
Definitely visiting again to try other themed buffets like Sundays: Tandoori, Mondays: Mexican , Tuesdays: New Orleans BBQ , Wednesdays: South East Asian and Thursdays: Seafood .
Verdict: A restaurant to enjoy a great view along with some drool worthy dishes.
