California Pizza Kitchen also known as CPK in the industry is a polished casual dining restaurant chain which was started in 1985 by attorneys Rick Rosenfield and Larry Flax in beverly hills,California.
They have outlets in almost 17 countries around the world which include our own UAE.
I have visited the Branch in Dubai Mall after hearing about the iftar deal on zomato, so thought of trying it out. I went their around 6pm and tried to book a table but they said there is no provision for reservation and told to come by 6.30pm so that we will be able to get a table and have food right at the time of iftar. They had outside seating arrangement facing the fountain area but the climate was not that apt.
They served dates at first, For drinks i had a watermelon strawberry cooler which was indeed very cooling.
In the combo there was starter platter, salad, soup, main dish, dessert and coffee or tea.
The starter platter had dynamite shrimp which did not come upto the level which we usually have from another American-Chinese joint. Chicken tenders were good. Fried calamari’s were lacking the taste that I expected. Found garlic cheese focaccia to be good.
The soup chosen was Adobe chicken chowder which was the one I liked among all.
The salad was Mediterranean which had fresh lettuce and cherry tomatoes.
The main dish ordered was spicy Mexican with penne. it was kind of average dish.
They only had two choices of desserts in the deal, one was Nutella cake and red velvet. I chose the latter, it was well moist and tasty too.
Among the hot beverages I took black tea which completed the combo. My main suggestion to the restaurant will be to provide complimentary water during iftar along with dates.
