The story of Chawlas2 started way back in 1960 in a small place called Ludhiana in Punjab. It was initially called Chawlas chicken famous for its signature dish cream chicken.
“Born near the foot hill of the himalayas and stirred in punjab. The culinary experience of Chawlas2 evokes the beauty of punjab’s country side with its rich flavours and aromatic spices”
Extremely delighted to have our dinner at the Chawlas2.Myself and my food explorer friend Coffee & Me had a tasting session here last day after I was suggested by her.The host Mr Arvinder who is also the franchise owner of the restaurant gave us a warm welcome and explained us about the story of Chawlas2 and the famous cream chicken. There are more than a 150 outlets across the globe and this is the only outlet in Dubai. He had the ambition of giving real Punjabi food with the secret recipe all the way from Ludhiana.
Firstly for starters we were served with a Mix platter consisting of fish ,chicken and paneer. Each had its own unique flavour and well marinated as well.
For kids he suggested us a chicken malai tikka which again was quite good.
Lastly among starters came the mutton chaaps (it was finger licking good). The meat was so tender and the spices were on spot. That was the best among starters.
Next was the signature dish which is the Cream chicken served along with roomali rotti. The chicken pieces were cooked in milk,It was rich in flavours. We shamelessly wiped all of the gravy.😋😋
Moving on,,next on the row were
Paneer lababdar ,the gravy was cream based but entirely different from cream chicken. It had flavours of capsicum in it.I loved it a lot.
Butter chicken, different from what we usually have.the gravy was not sweet but had the flavours of tomato and butter.
Mutton rogan josh, another favourite of mine. The pieces were tender and cooked to perfection and rich in authentic flavours.
Dal makhani is a traditional punjabi dish made of black lentils but didnot come upto the level of other three.
These came along with a mix of naans and parathas.
Lastly our dessert which was gulab jamun which was very soft and tasted yummy.kesar kheer, rice kheer which had flavours of cardamom and kesar. These both combined made a super cool dessert.
For drinks we called for a lime soda and a sweet lassi.
