Couqley, French Bistro

Couqley is a classy French bistro which has open its branch in Dubai, in the hub of restaurants, Jumeirah Lake Towers. It offers traditional bistro meals by Partner & Corporate Chef Alexis Couquelet. He is the key man behind it. Alexis carries with him an immense & rich experience in gastronomic art since he began working in a series of restaurants in Paris from 1993 onwards. He worked for 12 years in Paris’s top class restaurants. After acquiring knowledge from different parts of the world, he settled in Lebanon and started this Bistro.Later on in Dubai.

Moving on, the outlet at Dubai offers us a laid back ambience with classy interiors. It is as though you are sitting in a chalet in France. The Manager Mr. Morgan greeted us and welcomed to our seats. He explained about the restaurant and how it functions.
Since we were new to the restaurant, Mr. Duncan our server took well care of us and helped us in fixing our dishes. We started with soup which was the Soup du jour (soup of the day) made of potato and leek. A flawless and smooth soup with flavors of both ingredients. A good one to start with.

Shrimp avocado was the next to arrive at our tables. It is a salad made of steamed shrimps on an avocado mousse salad. Never had this combo. I loved the dressing too. Quite a stimulating one.
For our mains we ordered the Couqley’s steak frites which is a signature dish with Chef’s special sauce and fries. The steak was well done and the sauce made it incredible.Fries was just normal.

Another main dish was Sea bass en papillote. The fish came enclosed in a foil paper to retain the aromatic zests. It was served along with basmati rice.I loved the texture of the fish and the flavor, altogether a definite win.
Moving on to my much anticipated dessert section. The manager suggested us to take the Pain perdu and it was spot on.It is not a complicated dessert but I will never get tired of having it. Another one was chocolate fondant which is essentially dark chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream.Though I am a chocolate lover I prefer the former.
