Down town Café was there on my list since its opening and when I got an invitation from my food explorer friend Coffee and Me, I was more than thrilled to go. It is located in Karama in the hub area where people meet and treat and don’t worry there is enough parking space just besides the parking ground. The ambience is pretty decent with dim lighting and enough seating arrangement which is apt for a friendly gathering. The service was a bit slow as the staffs were not so experienced.
We started off with a mochaccino which came hot and loved it, perfect for the weather. Next was a DT special chocolate blend. It was indeed good.
We also tried the signature DT special smoothie. The blend was good and the fresh fruits used in it was refreshing.
As starters, we got to try quesadilla. The filling was done perfect with proper amount of cheese and meat filling.
We also tried the shrimps cocktail which I heard a lot about. But somehow didn’t come to our expectations. Shrimps were good but the sauce used in it lacked that flavor.
Moving on to the main course, we had chicken portobello. Perfectly done chicken breast with Portobello mushrooms and mashed potatoes and some veggies. It tastes amazing with the accompanied sauce.
Coco basa, a coconut flavored fish served along with garlic butter and creamy veggies . It was super soft and the flavors were perfectly induced in it. One of my favorite without any doubt.
DT Beef steak was the next to arrive. The juicy beef was done perfect and the flavors were also good but the sauce was little salty which made it low.
As desserts, we ordered a red velvet pastry and an oreo cheese cake.I enjoyed both but the red velvet was so moist and soft which was a perfect climax to our day.
Verdict: The perfect ambience and quite enjoyable food which is pocket friendly and is definitely growing as a promising hang out destination in Dubai.
