Zoco, Al Habtoor city

Another day another cuisine and today we are at this Latin American beauty Zoco, one of the promising restaurants in Al Habtoor city. They mainly serve Mexican cuisine in a grand dining area with interiors reminding me of the pubs in the countryside. The exposed wall bricks, chandeliers, paintings completely complement the theme. They have brunch on Fridays which is a great deal including variety of dishes like different types of tacos. On Saturdays they have a three course sharing menu for just Aed 160 without alcohol.

The restaurant manager Mr Francisco Cruz was very humble and kind and he showed us around the restaurant showcasing the open kitchen. We started off with two non-alcoholic drinks made by the mixologist Calvin. Peruvian which is basically a berry based drink with a touch of ginger. I loved it a lot. Another one was Frescas – Again a berry based drink , a good one but not that much as Peruvian.

We had a three course set menu which includes the Guacamole Bandera, Tacos of your choice, Fajita chicken roll and Churros Donuts.
Guacomole bandera comes with tortillas and freshly made guacamole consisting of avocados, tomato, onion, jalapeno and coriander. A good one to start with.
We chose to have chicken tacos and it comes in soft taco shells. The flavors were top notch with small onion and pineapple cubes.

The next one was Fajita chicken roll. It comes with small bowls of guacamole and sour cream. Again the filling was perfectly spicy.
For the desserts, we had the churros donuts. It was served with ice cream and chocolate syrup. The churros was hot and crispy out and soft inside which was perfect for our taste.

Other than the set menu, we also had Lamb chops which was well done. It was tender soft and pretty filling too. Another one was shrimps quesadillas . Again served with guacamole and sour cream.

Verdict: A great place to enjoy your weekend with highly recommended Mexican delicacies. Definitely going to try out the Friday brunch as well.
