The Grub house, International city- Dubai

The Grub House is one of the restaurant in International city with a decent ambience and a good place to dine in with family. We went here for a blogger’s session put together by NNK. We were greeted by Ms Risha who is also the owner of the restaurant and she did explain to us in detail about the place. They specialize in north Indian and Indo chinese cuisine too.

We called for lemon mint to start with. It was pretty refreshing.
Moving on to the starters, we were served some of the signature platters as suggested by Ms Risha.
Salim ki pasand- It was a mixed platter with several non-veg kebabs. Being a hardcore carnivore , I quite loved it.
Anarkali ki pasand- The names were quite interesting! This is a mixed kebab platter with an assortment of paneer, baby potatoes etc.

Next was my favorite Sagar-E-Sultan which was a seafood platter of prawns, fish etc. The prawns were cooked to perfection with the right spices.
Among chinese starter , we got to try schezwan chicken which was pretty good too.
Tandoori chicken- Another favorite starter with soft pieces of chicken perfectly marinated and grilled. The spice level was also right.

Moving on to the main course, we tried Matka chicken, Tangdi kebab lababdar, sunheri chicken, Chicken masala bombay biryani.
We quite enjoyed the biryani which was done pretty well.
Schezwan noodles was a bit let down as it was lacking some flavors.

The most exciting part,Desserts!! We tried both Gulab jamun and Ras malai. They were made in-house and was really delicious and we did enjoy.

Verdict: A decent family restaurant with courteous staffs, delicious food and great offers for university students as well.

Wagamama, Palm Jumeirah

Wagamama is a British headquartered restaurant chain, serving Asian food inspired by the flavors of Japan. It was started by Alan Yau who subsequently created the Chinese restaurants Hakkasan and Yauatcha in London. At present Wagamama have over 140+ restaurants all over the world including UAE. March being the month of #ramen, wagamama in Golden Mile, Palm Jumeirah organized a social slurping event by Mc Collins Media for us bloggers along with some interesting dishes to taste.
Being a hardcore fan of Asian cuisine , I was thrilled to attend the event and meet some of the bloggers.

At wagamama, the philosophy of ‘kaizen’, which stands for good change, is central to everything they do. Inspired by the fast-paced, Japanese ramen bars, wagamama is a celebration of the fresh and nourishing flavors of Asia.

Social slurping aims at conveying two main beliefs, social sitting and slurping. Throughout the month of March, wagamama will be celebrating ramen in all its glory.

In the name of kaizen, wagamama has been serving, colourful, aromatic and flavorful dishes cooked with the freshest of ingredients with a play of shichimi. Pick a warming bowl of bold ramen. teppan griddled to perfection, or kare, with its rich coconut base and not to forget the heavenly desserts, fresh juices and hot drinks.Featuring Japanese favourites and a fresh, authentic menu updated seasonally, wagamama is a staple of modern Asian cuisine

The franchise for wagamama is owned by RMAL Hospitality operating in four locations in Dubai,
1. Crowne plaza
2. Palm Jumeirah
3. Al FattanTowers
4. The Greens
The outlet here at Palm Jumeirah is pretty spacious but seating I thought should have been more comfortable. Moving on to the food, Some of the starters I got to try were edamame, duck wrap, gyoza, calamari. The duck wrap was the best in which we ourselves make the wrap and fill it with the ingredients provided. I enjoyed doing it. Next was gyoza cooked and slightly grilled outside. It was filled with chicken and its good to have with the accompanied sauce. Calamari was saltless I felt. They had an array of fresh juices and i got to try the tropica which was extremely refreshing. Orange- carrot was equally good.

For the main course we had vegetarian, chilli chicken and beef based ramen and we started off with the slurping. I loved the chilli chicken based as the flavors were suiting my taste. It was well enough for sharing with two to three people. Another one was a katsu curry. It was just mind-blowing. We all enjoyed it ,the sauce was delicious and it well complemented the protein.

For the desserts, we had the illustrious fried banana and icecream. Thanks Joylin Dsouza and Sophia Fernandes from Mc Collins Media for the invite.

Verdict :Slurping of Ramen will lead people to leave their table manners aside and enjoy a scrumptious, fresh and flavorful bowl of ramen, slurping ones way to the end. The only way of enjoying a soul-ful, bowl-ful of Ramen is, slurping it right.

Prax’s ,Al Barsha

Prax’s is not just a Chinese cuisine restaurant but a fusion of Asian flavors which comes in little boxes. We had the opportunity to dine here at the Barsha outlet which opened nearly 4 or 5 months back. The seating area is much more spacious than the one in Jumeirah. They have an open kitchen as well. Our host Mr Andre welcomed us and was very friendly and kind enough to tell us about the story of Prax’s .He also helped us in choosing our dishes.Everything here is served in fixed grams and ingredients are also measured in a particular container so that it will always taste the same.

We called for the Wonton soup to start with.It was shareable among two and the flavor we chose was chicken. It was tangy and spicy at the same time.I must say one of the best wonton soup I have had ever.
Moving on to the starters,
Shrimp dynamite was the first to arrive at our table. It was nothing compared to the one we had before from another Chinese joint. They served the sauce separately so that it will not mislay its crispiness and will get the goodness of the sauce at the same time.It had a unique touch of Prax’s.

Among dimsums,he suggested Chicken Siu mai which is a Chinese dumpling served along with spicy sauce. The filling is not completely covered and was different compared to the momos and gyozas.
For the mains,we had the signature dish,Chilli Basil beef which is basically egg noodles served along with stir fried beef and few veggies. The spiciness level was just right and the flavors of the meat along with veggies makes it exceptional.Highly recommended.
For the next main,we chose to have the Go freestyle option in which we can decide on the Base,Protein,Sauce and Topping. My choice was to have Egg fried rice along with chicken as protein and kimchi sauce. For topping we can choose three toppings for free and I decided to go with bamboo shoots, mixed peppers and shiitake mushrooms. We could smell it even without opening the boxes.I also chose to have fried garlic to garnish it.

To end our journey at Prax’s we called for our desserts. There were two available and got to try both.
Coconut and ginger which had a distinctive blend of both. The ginger flavor was only mild which I liked and was good for my palate.A must try.

Date and caramel which is a Prax’s speciality.Even I loved this one too but was not special as told.
I will definitely go back to have the other dishes as well.
