Jodhpur , Journey through a royal path

I love to call Jodhpur, a ‘fine-dining Family’ restaurant rather than just fine dining. It is quite conveniently nestled in Roda Al murooj, a beautiful property in Downtown Dubai. The Charioteer ‘Chef Pradeep Khullar’ with his own gastronomic techniques and skills has created some amazing dishes and we were completely carried away by it. Last Friday afternoon, we decided to dine in there with family and to check out what they had in store.


Surprisingly we met Chef on our walk to Jodhpur and he welcomed us to his empire. It has two levels of dining area with cozy and comfortable seating. The staffs were friendly too. It was almost packed when we entered.
As PRE-STARTER we got Jeera Khari with Herb Yoghurt- An Indian version of mini puffs which was served with a herb yoghurt dip. It was quite crispy and the dip well complemented it.18159995_10158563075695405_1351045494_o
Tiny little Macaron chaats were served as amuse bouche which gave us a package of all the elements like sweet, sour, crunchy, chewy- All in one. No wonder it has become the crowd’s favorite. For our son we got a chocolate filled macaron.18175796_10158563075475405_995380915_o(1)
They do have some interesting mock tail mixes, and we got to have raspberry mojito and lemon-mint mojito. Loved the way it was served in a tray of bubbles and smokes.


Moving on, an array of cold and hot starters arrived one by one and we started off with
Beef Short Ribs with Aam Papad Glaze. An unexpected combination of tanginess and crispiness on the outer and soft perfectly cooked meat inside was a perfect win.


Nimbu Jhinga, Pan Grilled, Beet Carpaccio – Again a well presented dish with Pan grilled tiger prawns marinated in lemon pickle marinade & served with beetroot carpaccio. The prawns were perfectly cooked though I felt the marination was little overpowering the flavor of prawns. But my husband liked it.
Chicken & Chestnut Kulcha with Sumac Laban- Chef described how those delectable kulchas are made with melt-in-mouth chicken and water chestnut filling and carefully cooked in tandoor. Another highly recommended dish here at Jodhpur. I can’t wait to try it again.


Kale Patta Chaat with Chatpata Tarbooz and Feta Curd- Flash fried kale leaves served in a watermelon and feta salad. The curd was frozen using liquid nitrogen and it looked quite appealing.
PALATE CLEANSER
Mango, Cranberry & Kaffir Lime Sorbet – This sorbet served in toy pressure cooker made with Fresh Alphonso puree spiked with kaffir lime leaves & de-hydrated cranberries. We were ready to have the main course after this amazing palate cleanser18120193_10158563073425405_1966859920_o
MAIN COURSE
Keema ‘Pygmy’ Pao with masala Hari Mirch- The mutton keema was done so well with butter and masalas that even after finishing the pao, I could not stop having the keema.
Faux Dal Makhni- Here the moong Dal is replaced with Black Urad & cooked exactly the same way Dal makhni is made so that the taste is not compromised. It was thick and creamy but we did not feel bloated after eating since the black urad was used.


Chur chur kulcha- Crispy kulchas stuffed with paneer and other masalas were a good combination with dal makhni.
The most awaited part, Desserts. I have heard a lot about the desserts and the drool worthy pics my foodie friends have posted and was eagerly waiting to try it out.
Lotus Treacle Tart, Salted Butter Scotch Ice Cream- I am a die-hard fan of anything lotus and I can’t ask for something better than this. Even after these many days I am still dreaming of this particular dessert and I highly recommend you all to try this out.


Saffron Jalebi, Mascarpone Rabdi- Another impressively presented one with jalebis hanging in metal tree. Well after having my lotus tart, this tiny little jalebis gave a twist in flavors.
Thanks Chef Pradeep Khullar for this amazing experience and most significantly the warm hospitality and giving importance to customer satisfaction.
Verdict: A great place to visit on all your special occasions and enjoy the delicious masterpieces they offer.

Shakeshack, The Dubai Mall

Shake Shack is an American fast casual restaurant chain centered in New York City. It started out as a food cart inside Madison Square Park in 2004 instituted by the ambitious Danny Meyer, and its fame gradually grew. In due course, it was moved to a stand within the park, intensifying its menu from New York-style hotdogs to one with hamburgers, hotdogs, fries and its namesake milkshakes. The company vanities itself and underlines its use of all-natural 100% Angus beef only and that its meat is absolutely free of hormones and antibiotics. For the frozen custards, they use rich and creamy ice cream-spun fresh daily right inside the shack. Their vanilla and chocolate recipes use only real sugar and not corn syrup. Milk is taken from farmers who guaranteed not to use artificial hormones. What more do you want from a casual restaurant joint like this??


Al Shaya have taken the franchise in Middle-eastern countries and they started the first branch in United Arab Emirates about 4 years back in the Mall of Emirates,Dubai. After the success of that branch, they moved on to open ten more outlets in various parts of the country . They have a new branch coming up in Dubai parks and resorts too.Most of the products such as beef patties and few other goods are directly coming from US and they keep the same standards as that in US. They do have routine inspections to keep up the standard.

15748741_10157947422385405_872721899_oI recently got to visit the one in Dubai Mall and was really overwhelmed by the warm hospitality even after being a busy day. Ms. Ava described us about the Shack and its specialties, quite interesting i would say.
Moving on;
Wherever you go, first item we will order is their signature dish and the one here it is the Shackburger. Beef patties which are well done and were melting in our mouth with the home made sauce is divine. It is not exaggerated. You should definitely try it and see.
Next favorite was the Alpine burger which is a seasonal edition burger with special patties, bacons, onions and lettuce. It was quite different from the Shackburger, but similar patties which are well done, topped with pickles.


SmokeShack: If you love spicy and flavorsome burgers, this is the one you are looking for. It was an awesomely delicious burger topped with cherry peppers that are to die for.
Shroom burger is the one for the veggie lovers, crispy portobello mushroom filled with different cheese will ooze out in a bite and its a definite pick.
They have crinkled fries which comes with different toppings such as cheese sauce and cherry peppers. Loved it without toppings though.
For our drinks, we chose to have the black and white shake which was a creamy and smooth milk shake with a twisted flavor. Another one was the coffee shake which is must try for the coffee lovers.They have different flavored lemonades too, we decided to have one regular lemonade and a blueberry lemonade. The tanginess was a bit on the higher side.


For our desserts, Shakeshack special concretes are the must try. We decided to have the red velvet which is vanilla custard with red velvet cake topping. No words to describe it. An awesome one.

Dubai Mall special is a vanilla and chocolate based custard with marshmallow sauce and chocolate cookie dough.I loved this too as I am a chocolate lover.


Going to Shakeshack will not give us the same guilty feeling you get when we go to other fast casual chains as they focus on few health parameters which others do not take into account. A big thanks to the whole team of Shakeshack for having us over especially Ms. Rana Ismail, Ms. Ava, Ms. Georgia, Mr. Paul, Ms. Saraswati and the rest whose names are not mentioned.We thoroughly enjoyed and will definitely come back for more.

Parker’s, Dubai Mall

Parker’s first launched their outlet in Dubai near City walk ,Al Safa and then later on got shifted to Dubai Mall level 2.It was just by luck that we got a key to this famous restaurant and was fun to hunt for the key at the same time.

Its situated in between TGI fridays and Leten in the 2nd level.After we got our key,we headed to the restaurant.There was a big queue infront and we had to wait a bit before we got the seat inside.I think before criticising its better to know about it more.
We were handed over the menu when we were in the queue itself.so we could make the choice during that waiting period.After we were seated ,there was a queue again for taking the order and we pay there itself.
The ambience is very fresh and pleasant eventhough its crowded.The staffs were very energetic and we could see them nicely dressed up all around.I liked the idea of reusing the materials for example the milk can as tissues holder.


Moving on to the food.The items ordered were
Parker’s burger which had beef patty,cheddar cheese,caramelized onion,lettuce,tomato and bazooka sauce.Yummy it was…and spicy as well.
Chicken mojito Tacos which comprised of mojito grilled chicken,parmesan ranch and cured lemon cabbage slaw.Not that spicy but tasted good.
The much awaited Lotus drama with vanilla icecream,lotus fudge and pudding underneath.It was heavenly.I would go back again just to have that alone..
I would say It was quite an experience .
